The problem is Bush has declared this never ending, nebulous "War On Terror" and now figures that give him the infinite powers of a Saddam.

Nothing should silence the press. If you want to live in a totalitarian regime so badly why don't you emigrate to China?

You would probably get far in the communist party with your views on silencing the press.

I don’t recall Johnson being given infinite power by declaring his “War on Poverty”.

Don't you really mean 'prosecuting the executives of the defense company [Loral] who violated US export control laws and allowed the Chinese access to controlled technologies'... and securing CONVICTIONS of the company executives, and RECORD FINES of the company?

--- You should brush-up on the facts....

Good point:

"as left wingers didn't have a problem with clinton giving our missile guidance technology to the Chinese communists, it doesn't surprise me the left wingers don't see a problem with the NYTimes selling out security issues..."
