Why make a false claim? Now true, the two did have their origins in a similar point in time and both were born as a result of similar excesses.

That was pretty much my point.

As for Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot, the heros of your socialistic brethren of the 50s through at least the 70s, they no doubt highjacked socialism for their purposes.

Back then, however, that was not understood by the Western socialistic camp including their so called "progressive intellectuals" and other leading brains.

In our days with Stalin and Pol Pot looking a bit rusty, only Mao remains the hero of a great many people of socialistic observance incl. a great many libs.
