Well often there has been the refrence here of the need for higher vertebrate/nervous cortex functionality for any meaningful discussion of awareness or consciousness....

would be interested to hear what you think of the rest of Chopra's insights , especially since it has the flavor of supporting much that could fall easily into accepted reductionist scientific definitions , and also embrace and also support the "non-material" pov's that also some are maintaining here .

To look at the body as it is viewing it on the atomic level is as much a parallel to "spirit" as one could get . The fact of exchanging atoms and the body's entire replacement of course proves no such divinity or higher reality , but does involve processess that are for all practical purposes "very real " , and not ordinarily experienced consciously by all participants though we do feel somewhat the changes from age and passing time ...but there is a potential consciousness that is present and could be incorporated into the that body of mind awareness .

For instance , death is an inevitability but few people see the "epiphenomenon" of killing themselves slowly spoonful by spoonful of too many molecules and atoms of hagen daz .;)

We know from where Dr Chopra comes from as a Dr/scientist & healer , i sense he's somewhere on the right tack .
