Yes, it is support for why the photos should not have been released. And support for not having taken them and for not having committed the crimes documented by them. All of those things happened before this. In this age of technological innovations such as camera phones, tiny digital cameras, laptop notebooks, and scanners at virtually every desktop it is exceedingly unlikely that such activities can be kept quiet, known only to the perpetrators, or that all of those who investigate such crimes will not leak the information intentionally or otherwise.

No, beheadings are not new. It was a propaganda moment of extreme utility for Zarqawi and he chose to take advantage of it in the most sensational manner he could. I have no proof, but little doubt, that Berg was seized specifically for this particularly gory bit of theatrics.
