There is NO NEAR MISS with global warming.

And one day, possibly in a couple of months, or even weeks, (or even days for a smaller, but sufficiently devastating asteroid) a planet killing asteroid might plunge through that CO2 laden atmosphere and solve ALL OF YOUR WORRIES about global warming.

In fact, in the fallout that will follow, blocking a large percentage of the sun's rays, you'll be praying for some global warming...

That is, when you're not praying for your very survival (assuming you survived the initial impact).

Ever hear of the K-T extinction?

That meteor was only 4-9 kilometers in diameter when it hit.

But again... you're so focused upon environmental threats that even today's scientists admit will require YEARS to manifest themselves, that you're completely indifferent to one enviromental catastophe that could occur in the space of a week and utterly alter the lives of everyone on this planet for years, AND FOR WHICH WE HAVE NO PLANS, OR CURRENT MEANS OF STOPPING.

And the blame can be extended to the Bush administration as well, for their indifference is just as galling as your own. If they can't make a political issue out of it, they won't pay any attention to it.

Yep... worry about global warming might be called for, but it can be mitigated, as I have already suggested via ocean fertilization or the even more controversial idea of spewing particulates into the atmosphere to block the sun's rays in a measured manner.

But not even an ounce of concern about an event that can occur in a manner where there is a minimal amount of warning and we just have to sit here like deer in the headlights and hope we survive.

Btw, this guy found an asteroid that nearly struck the planet a couple of years ago with only 36 hours of warning. Had it struck, it would have had the impact of a 1 megaton bomb.
