>>Some time ago, I suspected that Eric L. was paid to post on these boards<<

Let not overblow this. It is all too obvious that Eric does not work for Nokia, nor does he speak for Nokia, nor does he "know" Nokia better than anyone on these boards (anymore than any of us actually can speak for QCOM). If Nokia were to hire someone it would be a person who is much better versed in the technology, a lot less insulting, and a lot less obvious in their obsession to a company. Eric and Nokia have been on different pages too many times for him to "know" Nokia. The enormity and content of his posts on the many boards show he is a Nokia and internet chat board "buff and bluff". Like Tero, over the years his threat of FUD has been neutered by more savy posters, hindsight, and contradiction.

Alan,

I don't see how anything posted here by anybody is going to change the evolution of the telecom industry.

I concur. I also think that there is little chance of altering the stock price one way or another by what’s posted here.

My conjecture is that Eric L. vets his sales pitches here and on IHub. He can see what floats or sinks before making presentations to potential customers. If he finds a reasonable objection to some point of his, he can tweak his pitch or avoid the point altogether. He may also pick up tidbits about Qualcomm from <engineer> or chatter about companies that he doesn’t find in trade journals or online paid sources. His paymaster could easily see the advantage of spending company money by posting here. The pissy rants are probably off the clock.

Now, since I’m in a sewing circle gossip mode, I think Eric was involved with the Nokia/Sanyo JV. He had mentioned that he was working on putting together a JV after exiting another. He hadn’t posted in a while, but gave clues here:

The above post is tightly aligned with the BS from Nokia about a shrinking CDMA market. After the mess, a typical rant: Qualcomm and the Jacobs are bad.

Sour grapes?

…just having some fun on my day off.
