hello elmatador,

A while back, when commenting on possible US negotiations with Iran, I noted that Iran had attempted, and offered, to begin negotiations with the US on a spectrum of issues years ago -- only for the US to spurn the advance.

At the time you asked if I (I was posting as "suttree" then) had a source for that comment, and I noted that it was lost to my memory, though I would apprise you of a reference in future if I stumbled across one again.

You will find one 12 paragraphs from the end of Sy Hersh's piece below:

"... A European diplomat told me that his government would be willing to discuss Iran’s security concerns — a dialogue he said Iran offered Washington three years ago..."
