Well, the war on terrorism has come right here to our residential community this morning. I came back from the store and the street leading to our subdivision was blocked off by Police. Must have been 10 patrol cars, fire engines etc. Asked the cop what was up, he said we have a SUSPICIOUS package. Now this is in a RESIDENTIAL neighborhood. Been a couple hours and havent heard a bang so I presume it was a false alarm. jdn

Oops! How could I forget Richard M. Nixon's 1972 landslide victory with the largest percentage of popular vote in American history (60.4%)? Sorry about that! I realized I left him off while driving off to an appointment. Truth be known, as I understand it, anything over a 5-point spread has historically been considered a solid win, particularly if the electoral college total is at least equally large. (Thus, to use a recent example, Bill Clinton's unimpressive 49% re-election total against "None of the Above" (also known as "Bob Dole") becomes impressive when the 8-point margin and overwhelming electoral college total are considered.) Not that you really care a whole lot about this, but I'd thought I'd try to set the record straight about what I meant before I rushed elsewhere.
