I have always had a hard time getting enthused about even an enemy like Satan getting caught up in campaign finance scandals. That's because campaign finance laws are an offense to our free republic and a sop to the institutionalized ignorance of populism. It's about "gotcha" rather than the rational morality that the Founders believed was critical to the preservation of liberty. Better NO campaign finance laws at all than any that have been written so far. They are just another example of the populist love for the TYRANNY of law, rather than the rule of it...
