It can certainly be defined... maybe not perfect, but close enough for government work. re: We got to control illegal immigration, but legal? Please, as if the pressure to outsource and move jobs offshore isn't big enough. There are jobs you can outsource, and jobs you can't. The low end jobs are mostly labor or services, and most of those can't be outsourced. That's why I said "unskilled", I would hate to see you loose your job to someone in China. re: 3. Pass laws that strengthen union organizing ****************** They're already too strong as it is. Crap, union membership has declined by something like 50% over the last 25-35 years. To really get low end wages up, you need two things... a balanced supply demand for workers and the workers need the power to disrupt "production". The first is a good step towards progress, the second would give workers "economic power". I know, "God forbid!". re: 4. Pass ultra heavy taxes on corporate paychecks over $200K and give tax breaks for total wages paid ****************************** The execs will just compensate themselves in other ways, and the ones that will truly suffer are the upper middle class. It's not impossible to pass effective law Ten, it's done all the time. And yes, the upper middle class will "suffer" (damn they might have to get a new BMW every OTHER year) and so will the upper class "suffer". Much better to keep the working poor "suffering" at a much different level? re: We've already been over this. Fix the problems currently plaguing health care right now, and I might believe that state-sponsored universal health care would be cheaper. The problem with health care right now are bureaucracy consumer middle men who raise the cost by 30%+, and the drug special interests that don't have to compete in a real marketplace. That would be fixed by universal. re: Wrong again, John. I actually like half of what you're suggesting. Which probably makes you feel very uncomfortable ... What? You agreed with one of seven points! I'm still at the same comfort level... not very.
