Doing away with SIMS for world wide roaming will be one of the coming wireless technology enhancements. Do you have anything besides your own ramblings to back that statement up? Also, would you care to place a wager on that? Slacker

Doing away with SIMS for world wide roaming will be one of the coming wireless technology enhancements. It would a major accomplishment if you could understand the definitions of SIM, RUIM, carrier, roaming.

A SIM or USIM (or R-UIM or UICC) is required to roam onto a GSM and/or WCDMA network, and that requirement is not going away. QUALCOMM fought that battle in 1998 and on into 1999. They lost, and moved on, which is what one does when one lose's a battle. They developed SIM expertise, and support SIM I/O and 'plastic roaming.' All UMTS (WCDMA) handsets produced by QUALCOMM's value chain, and using QUALCOMM multi-mode chipsets, use a USIM. When in Roam, do as the Roamans do. Slacker asked ...
