Sure. And teachers and cops and legislators and medical practitioners and . . . .

But a bad cop, doctor, or lawyer doesn't upset me the way a bad soldier does. It hurts more because of the gratitude and appreciation I feel toward rank-and-file military people -- not so much because it betrays me (despite what I said earlier), but maybe because it betrays them.
