I was surprised to see you post the Hersh piece. Didn't he predict an attack on Iran that was supposed to happen last year?

Good points, Bill. Reminds me that Michael Ledeen advertises himself as some sort of expert on Iran and what Iranians-on-th-street are thinking yet has never been there while Juan Cole holds forth as an expert on Iraq and Iraqis despite never having been there.

And that reminds me that Cole, after Zarqawi's death, Cole wrote something to the effect that Zarqawi wasn't really a genuine member of Al-Qaeda and his death was no big deal. I guess he didn't anticipate that Bin Laden was planning to issue that touching eulogy. I wonder if Cole's website has been "updated" to reflect the new reality. If so, the evidence, if any, will have been touched-up a bit, rather like those old photos of party leaders atop the Kremlin ;-)
