Cole wrote something to the effect that Zarqawi wasn't really a genuine member of Al-Qaeda and his death was no big deal. I guess he didn't anticipate that Bin Laden was planning to issue that touching eulogy.

We are all "grinding our axes," aren't we. :>) And when our predictions don't match up with reality, we try to ignore them.

My classic example of being wrong was my discussion with Bilow on the FAG thread about the Iraqi insurgency. He was wrong on most other things, but right on that. I could use the "stopped clock" analogy, but I have to give the devil his due. He called that event. And he was the only one on the thread that did so.

One has to wonder, are all of these Ossama tapes real?

This is an interesting assessment of the tape that "OBL" made confessing to the 9-11 attacks:

Even with this tape in hand, the FBI says it has no hard evidence that OBL was involved with 9-11. That crime is specifically omitted from OBL most wanted poster.

Curious indeed.
