Mushariff really didn't have ANY choice. He had to be with us and the BILLIONS we had to offer, since he really didn't have anybody else.

Essentially what I'm saying is that we should have lessened our reliance on the N. Alliance as much as possible by putting as many troops on the ground as possible. We should have continued putting them in until we had the entire country secured.

As it is we've got Karzai, who is losing credibility by the day and a country outside of Kabul that's a "wild west" with little fiefdoms that have to fend off Taliban incursions by themselves.

Instead of a country that could be a democratic influence on the entire region, we have an Afghanistan that seems to be deteriorating by the day.
