you're kidding. You missed the part about the Reds taking over space, when it really should be reserved for Mom, Apple Pie, and the American Way? Sputnik lit the fear of communist domination in space. It was OUR moral duty to dominate space- I think of it as manifest destiny, with a healthy does of the red menace- and that's a moral crusade, imo. The speeches of the time reek of crusade speak. Shall we dicuss the moral crusade of the bomb, or do you agree with that one?
