As I read your post I thought of last evening and watching the fireworks in Boston. The fireworks ended with America Written by Neil Diamond.

This song conveys America so well....

Far
We've been traveling far
Without a home
But not without a star

Free
Only want to be free
We huddle close
Hang on to a dream

On the boats and on the planes
They're coming to America
Never looking back again
They're coming to America

Home, don't it seem so far away
Oh, we're traveling light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm

Home, to a new and a shiny place
Make our bed, and we'll say our grace
Freedom's light burning warm
Freedom's light burning warm

Everywhere around the world
They're coming to America
Every time that flag's unfurled
They're coming to America

Got a dream to take them there
They're coming to America
Got a dream they've come to share
They're coming to America

They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
Today, today, today, today, today

My country 'tis of thee
Today
Sweet land of liberty
Today
Of thee I sing
Today
Of thee I sing
Today

I don't know anyone who thinks that America is not great. The richest most powerful nation in the world. The only super power.

And I do not know anyone that thinks that America is responsible for all the ills in the world.

I too believe that Bush has made errors. Those errors have caused ill in the world. We are responsible for those ills.

I do not believe that this administration has operated in the best traditions of our founders. The founders believed very much so that centralization of power was a great danger to this and any nation. They took great pains to design a government of, for and by the people. They created separation of powers, giving every opportunity to balance the influence of the executive, legislative and judicial elements.

Bush has done everything he can to consolidate executive power. Has thumbed his nose at legislation from a Congress of his own party with signing statements for those laws. He challenges the power of the Congress with those statements. That constitutes an unprecedented usurping of power. I don't think the founding Fathers would approve.

All that is required for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing.

Our country is being run by special interests. Since Bush came to office the number of registered lobbyists has doubled. This has been fueled by an enormous increase in Government spending. Those lobbyists are there to get their share of the money, and in many cases to urge the spending of more money.

Over at the Pentagon they are spending so much of our money, that literally billions of dollars fall through the cracks unaccounted for. Would the founding Fathers be proud?

I believe that the founding Fathers were for folks being accountable. For Government to be accountable. That's why they included the process of impeachment in the constitution.
