Yeah but if Safeway did push out mom and pop, no one minded because they brought union jobs with health benefits. Walmart brings low prices, but at the expense of employees salaries and benefits. That's probably why nobody complained when Safeway came to town.

Safeway is much better than Walmart. I knew the heir to Safeway stores. He was a rightwing republican but his company treated their employees fairly and didn't try to rape, pillage and destroy them. This is the difference between today's so-called "conservatives" (totally immoral white collar criminals) and yesterday's (straight but moral and decent). The conservative movement is finished. People like Delay, Rove, Cheney, Hannity and Coulter are not conservatives, they're political white collar criminals pimping for those who harm this country, its environment and its middleclass the most.
