Oh... so maybe you need to take that issue up with the MSM, who continuously seem to IGNORE the fact that if we release these guys, they are more than like (as some dozen ALREADY HAVE) take their release as an opportunity to kill someone else. Maybe more time should be spent asking OTHER NATIONS why they are so concerned about the rights of the terrorists and NOT about the rights of past, and future victims?? Hell, we still have nations dragging their feet with Iran and N. Korea, although BOTH are clearly governments that support terrorism and nuclear proliferation. They probably won't bother paying attention until they are forced to personally face the threat."information had been developed that justified it" Are you sure about that? What I CAN say is that our interrogators and intelligence personnel just don't have the time to waste incarcerating and interrogating people who haven't provoked some serious concern that they would pose a threat to us. Do you really think we have that many resources available to go around jailing a random selection of people? Yeah.. I would like a lot more information released on why these guys are being held. But for one thing, they are being detained with the goal of long-term and extensive interrogation. Which means, under domestic law, they are STILL under investigation and the government is not permitted to discuss on-going investigations, except to lay out the allegations for why they were detained (arrested). If we released them on "bail", they'd disappear and we'd be hard put to catch them again. As for the Egptian guy, I'm not sure which one you're talking about. There are a ton of Egyptians involved in the Al Qai'da organization. Feel free to document, if you'd like.. But I will say that the process isn't perfect. No process is. These guys are normally found with fake ID, or none at all. They use Kunyas (Abu so and so) to mask their real identity. So how can you REALLY be sure they are who they say they are without further interrogation and investigation? What this whole problem is crying out for is an international convention on the rights of illegal combatants that is separate from the Geneva conventions (which don't actually apply to non-state terrorist organizations).
