Chris,
Hamas wants historical palestine and is not willing to compromise. Fatah claims they will settle around the 67 lines as do the israelis. Realities on the ground require a very creative solution as settlement blocks and unified jerusalem are no longer negotiable. The pals had all of that in 67 and could have had it all back. They keep agreeing to terms that facts on the ground have obliterated.
My solution involves shared religious rule of jerusalem apart from civil--some sort of religous council that has jews, catholic, eastern, shiaa and sunni reps. And as in the clinton solution trade other land for the settlements to try to get to 87%-98% of total 67 acreage.
Hamas claims again today that west bank govt is bogus whether behind 67 borders or not. The fight is for all of palestine as elroy points out. mike
