The concomitant problem is in a competitive cultural environment, how do we provide breathing space for others? I think blacks in Africa deserve to be masters of their destiny, but what if there is a better metric next door? Other than natural resources, both as a tourist draw and for extractive export, I don’t see much hope for Africa, unless some major cultural changes occur. Some of the Arab states are at least on the edge of technical play, but still need cultural change. I'm glad to see that you haven't drunk this Kool-aid of your new habitat. There are a number of liberal concepts I don't agree with.
