When our opening alliance solicitation was, "Go along with what we want or go screw yourself, you traitorous smelly foreign wimpy scum!", it's not surprising we had a lot of rebuffs.

There are different, more effective ways to build alliances. Most were not tried in this administration until a great deal of damage was done with Plan A above. But the folks laying down the law felt REALLY good playing the tough guy.

It just didn't get them very far.
