Night shift ED nurses in South Florida make well north of $100,000.

I would think it's the Radiologists who are really screwed. An image can be taken in the u.s., transmitted to India for evaluation and then the analysis sent back.

i was talking with a CA MD (internal medicine) w/own practice recently--she made it sound like there was nothing left over after nurse and admin costs (but i assume she was subtracting her salary). i also was surprised that she borrowed money to buy a car.

I am not surprised. And also - call her and ask her - she probably was NOT subtracting her salary. What's left after the costs IS her salary. Payments to Internists and many other doctors have been eroding for many, many years... while the costs, of course, kept grinding up. After practicing Internal Medicine in NY for 25 years - if it were not for a few paid off mortgages - I would have little to show. We lead a fairly simple lifestyle, but, true, grad/postgrad education for kids did not come cheap.

those salaries you quoted seemed high end except for specialists: average PCP is not making 250K in my neighborhood.
Radiologists are still in high demand and can easily do 350K in the right areas with a 40 hr week.

What about dentists? A lot and most profitable of what they do is elective and not covered by insurances. Still they make $300-500K provided they have good business skills.

Did you listen to the latest Coxe? Are you going to pair you oil sands with QQQQ short?
IMO because of high international exposure tech stocks may hold much better in a downturn than the US financials and retailers.
