For now, that research will focus on brain aging. Say you discover the fountain of youth - now what? Why would you give that to GST? What could he possibly offer you in exchange that would have the same league of value?I have a few key ideas that I'm investigating, but there is a disappointing lack of awareness that this research is out there. There are so many solid theories and potential interventions, and not nearly enough brains working on the problems. Right, princess would rather watch fear factor and brittney while she shops for new colors of corian countertops. Quite frankly it astonishes me the people that are facing thier own mortality that have ZERO interest in doing anything about it themselves - but if you were to develop the magic pill - they would take it over your dead body.If you are serious about this, please do anything you can to raise the awareness. Talk to scientifically-inclined youth. Back at the international house I told all the mexican kids don't copy us - don't work hard to have nice houses and cars. Work hard to develop medical breakthroughs that will save your life and give you immortality - what bigger carrot can you offer than eternity? Just imagine - eons of Elroy and Grace duking it out!! heheTalk to friends, family, neighbors. Write congressmen. This quest - and solving global warming - should be the Apollo projects of our time. We need political support, people, and money. A lot of things I have read says this is an achievable goal - you are right - if all 6 billion people were focused on this instead of the myriad other issues - could major progress be made in a short time? In undergrad software design courses I read a book called the mythical man month - throwing more people at a problem sometimes slowed down progress.I know SIers tend to be well-educated, well-connected, and well-to-do. If you know of creative ways that I might find support for aging intervention research, please suggest them. I bring up bill gates and howard hughes for a reason - why wouldn't they want to live for thousands of years? They had the money no?Someday mankind will make radical leaps forward in lifespan due to our expanding knowledge of aging processes. There's no reason that day can't come within this century, but it will require many more resources than are presently deployed against the problem, and overturning the conventional wisdom that the declines associated with aging are just a normal part of life. I look at turtles that can have several hundred year lifespans. The devil is always in the details though eh? Why do Oregon Sturgeons live 150 years but even with great diet and exercise I am lucky to get 70? How come horseshoe crabs have such amazing immune systems and we still aren't knowledgeable enough to copy that into humans? Nature has given us the blueprint - but even with an original it seems slowgoing eh? I remember on sci.econ some guy from canada that is really out there with bizarre economic theories was talking about ET and he theorized ET had nano silver floating around in his blood system so that he wouldn't get sick and that is why thier skin was grey - argyria The grey skinned alien - Stan Jones - hehe
