The sample has everything to do with the results. Imagine you cherry pick a lot of Enron style companies for your strata vs. a lot of MSFT or Dell alike corporations, big or small?
Would you disagree that the results, given the same investigation methods and tests would not be seriously influenced by that?

With that said, we are not likely to agree on anything but to disagree.

Here is another link, which actually should be acceptable to both us I guess. The article is quite good - check the abstract up front and the conclusion p. 54-55 - and what's more, the author sees the need to do more research within the scope of determining if executive compensation does relate positively to total corporate performance - as it should indeed do - or not.
