I needled JohnM about the NJ tax over on the "View from the center" thread. John's response was:

It's a good deal, though I would have preferred an income tax raise (progressive) to a sales tax raise (regressive).

Someone had to do something to begin to address the structural problems in NJ. Corzine is doing something close to the right thing.


I commented back:

Why am I not surprised that your NJ solution is "which tax do we increase?" You are right in there with the NJ Pols.

My husband was born and raised in NJ and is so glad he got out when he did. He still has family there, but they don't usually talk about politics. I'm going to listen in the next time he talks to his brother.......I think he'll mention it. Should be interesting to hear what someone who voted for Ralph Nader in '00 has to say about the current govt in NJ.
