now they lose the gamblers on the net votes. i doubt anyone else would jump over to vote for a republican because they passed a bill to stop gambling. but those who play poker on the web may remember at election time.

The image is shattered since these same guys collect large contributions from Indian gambling interests. If they want to take a moral stand against gambling they could influence their home states to abandon lotteries. One of the costs of gambling is it has turned EVERY SINGLE politician into transparent hypocrites of the worst stripe.

The symbolism of trying to take a moral stand against gambling is more important than the policy actually working.
