'You should read what the market is telling you and not what you want to believe.'

Are we looking for the trends or one day moves? Do we look at charts of GDP, S&P 500, employment, gold, copper, 10 yr treasury, US dollar or median home prices for a period of a day? A month? A year? 3 years?

I'm really trying to understand balancing looking to far into the rear view mirror as we all agree the past is history versus having to prove you or I was right and making the numbers 'fit'?
