Michael, 1. Iraq is broken. There is no way a civil war can be averted now. The only choice we have is - whether to be in the middle of that civil war or not. I choose not to be. 2. Backing away from combat and moving to protected enclaves means that we are not doing anything to stop the civil war. A better alternative is to back away completely. 3. Osama bin Laden was proven right the moment USSA decided to attack a defenseless Arab nation. There is no way he can be disproved now. You cannot put the toothpaste back in the tube.
