The Catholic Church puts a certain amount of energy into influencing the political realm on the topics of abortion and stem cell research. I know they want abortion illegal. I assume they want stem cell research to be illegal, too, although I don't know that for sure since the debate about has been not about banning it but about denying federal funding.

I have seen no indication of any efforts on their part or anyone else's part, for that matter, to ban in vitro fertilization. If all of them destroy embryos, then they should put their weight behind all of them.

If I don't see some efforts to ban in vitro fertilization or some rationale for differentiating the destruction of one embryo vs another, I will eventually have to give up my tolerance for the pro-life position. The political effort, that is.
