I heard that also, along with 99 other words, including unibrow and drama queen. Oh, and SOUL PATCH. I had no idea what that was even working in a high school. But I dearly hate them.

For all the word smiths around here, I thought this article would be of interest:

iht.com

I came across the article while googling the term veritable gallimaufry, which I liked.

Main Entry: gal·li·mau·fry
Pronunciation: "ga-l&-'mo-frE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -fries
Etymology: Middle French galimafree stew
: HODGEPODGE <a gallimaufry of opinions>

The term was used thusly in a case I was reading:

Part of the difficulty in analysis of the law in this type of case arises out of a veritable gallimaufry of confusing rules gleaned from different types of actions...

I think that might have to replace gravitas for
a fun term............

Back to your regular programming....
:-)

the church clearly opposes in vitro and urges all governments to pretty much ban it:

Cobalt is quite right. It's possible many Catholics will defy Rome, but we really don't know yet.

OK, I won't bother looking it up but for the Catholic Church, as you no doubt know, the tax exempt status doesn't allow much in the way of campaigning.

But if you want to tar them all with the same brush, it's a free country.
