I never read "The Bell Curve," only read about it. I don't recall that aspect of it being mentioned.

I don't know why it wouldn't be better to splinter by beliefs and intelligence than by race if you have to splinter. At least there's something useful there.

You see it in our walled housing tracts, and it is just really starting. Charles Murray's main point in "The Bell Curve" is his fear of this phenomenon

Alvin Toffler talked about that as well, I think it was in "Third Wave".

New thing about the eye surgery. Got a bill for $525 for the anesthesiologist today. A nurse from the clinic did stick a needle in my hand, hurt but was never used. Since I never got so much as an aspirin I called and asked what he had done. He was in the building in case something went wrong and they had to put you under. Now that's a racket. They must have run 50 people through the clinic in 5 hours and he collects $525 from each of them just for being on call. I would say it's the reason insurance is so high but insurance won't pay it as he did nothing.
