If you believe the Taliban will morph into a second al Qaeda, then it makes some sense......I guess.

What always made sense was a no holds barred (x nukes) pursuit of bin Laden. Forget borders, forget geopolitics, just relentlessly go get the guy that got us. Send the clear message, then go home. We would have nothing but respect from the rest of the world.

I think bin Laden is dead. I think he's been dead for some time. I think that's why we don't bother to find him. I think that's why the CIA disbanded its bin Laden unit recently.
