Sorry, I haven't read the entire book so can't answer your question. I've listened to several interviews of the author and read several reviews, and read a couple of chapters of the book but was waiting to use my 20% Borders discount to buy it.

My understanding, based on the above, is that the author is talking about people who died under circumstances that indicate they died during interrogation by US personnel (including CIA).

The author based the book, in large part, on 35,000 pages of documents obtained from the military under Freedom of Information Act requests.

But if you want to continue the conversation, let's continue it somewhere else. I don't want to be accused of "badmouthing the military."
