i will leave that up to the community on the thread Its not nice to talk behind people's backs. If you have a problem with the thread, bring it up here. now we find europe and canada unaware of the program... Please post references. are we expressing a view from the center when the thread is supporting nytimes releases while congress supports and recent survey support condemning them for publishing details on swift program If the GOP-dominated Congress actually believes this, why have they not launched a formal inquiry? I have no doubt that a democracy must have a free press, although I realize that at times we will disagree as to what is appropriate for publication. Please recall that the NYT was quite supportive of the Iraq invasion and that they delayed the publication of the NSA program for over a year, well past the 2004 elections. If they really wanted to hurt GWB, they could, at least until Congress shut them down.

we are expressing a view from the center because unlike many threads, where folks are banned because they do not agree with the moderator, left and right are able to post here- and if you average out the views, and cancel out the weirdest ones, that probably comes closer to center than anything else available on SI. I challenge you to find ANY other forum as devoid of ugliness as this one, that still has a fair number of left and right posters. If you cannot find anything more centrist, than this is it. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.
