David Limbaugh told me they had nothing on Kerry. Not a single speck of dirt. It was about a year before the election and I emailed him pretending to be a GOP operative. I asked him what dirt they had on Kerry. At this point I was investigating Kerry myself, trying to decide if I was going to back him. Limbaugh emailed me back saying they didn't have anything but if they can't find anything good they'll make something up, and just the fact that he's a liberal is "dirty enough for me". His words almost exactly.

Another email from a famous Republican I got in 2001 got me involved politically. Lyn Nofzinger (who died recently) responded to my email asking if Bush-Cheney and the enron energy gougers were working together to steal tens of billions from the west coast. I noticed the energy gouging started the day after Bush-Cheney were first nominated, plus a Democratic State Senator told me "Enron is Bush-Cheney". Nifzinger simply wrote back "I wouldn't put it past them". Meaning "probably, yes".

Bush lied to Larry King the other night about Enron-Lay backing Anne Richards against him in 1994. I checked and Enron-Lay gave Bush almost ten times what they gave Richards. Bush for $150,000 for Lay-Enron for that one election, and a lot more later. Ten times as much later in fact.
