Once again I think we disagree on the meaning of "proof".

At the time of the American Revolution there was proof that all objects were attracted to each other by a force called gravity. It was a valid proof and time has shown it to be accurate in almost every way.

Under your concept that idea was completely not a proof.

We may also disagree on the meaning of the word "believe". I tend to think of it as the concepts I refer to as axioms, those things taken as true by assumption (but not contradicted by other evidence). You seem to think that anything that you have a high degree of confidence is a belief. It's almost as if it is only the doubt that validates an idea in your paradigm. That's more of a humble-to-god concept than the scientific method.
