Oh, the women in my ancestry all lived ridiculously long times, most past 80, many pushing 100. The men were much more variable.

I don't think I'd like to live past 100, or even past 95. Maybe 97.

I agree that having grandmothers around is an evolutionary advantage. Grandfathers would be, too, though, if they were the useful sort while younger, good with their hands, remember things which are useful, good insight.

The kind that just keep getting grumpier and grumpier, though, and even go around looking for things to be angry about -- maybe there's a good reason they don't live long and it has nothing to do with their genes.

As the lady said to Winston Churchill, "if you were my husband, I'd poison your tea!"
