Based on your statement there really isn't a solution to just about anything as their is always a downside to any action. The fact is that policies of empire lead to aggression by the ones that are dominated. It doesn't take a lot of smarts to figure that out as history is replete with examples. If you believe that domination and the resulting costs and downsides are worth it then why not just say so. My takeaway from your posts is that you support the status quo and the policies in support of it but don't really want to come out and explicitly state it.

I am I would pull all of our troops out of Europe - Europe can defend itself - the fact is Europe doesn't need defending We have enough nukes I would not spend money on more I would reduce the size of our army I would pull all of our troops out of Japan - or nearly all of them I would announce a pullout date in Iraq and leave at that date (less than a year) I would have a more even handed policy towards Israel I would slash the military budget by 40% to start and another 30% down the road. I would hold discussions with Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela. I would apologize to the people of Iraq for the mistakes we have made I would stop trying to overthrow regimes we do not like I would slash the budget at the CIA All sound policies Mish
