Glory is a little too sad for me to watch over and over...

The historic accuracy of Glory was scrupulous...some friends of mine told me that Matthew Broderick was too young and fresh to play the part, until I showed them a period picture of Col. Shaw, whom Broderick resembles tremendously.

The soundtrack of that film moves me greatly, from Horner's choice of the Harlem Boys Choir, to the tear that wells from Denzel's eye right at the crescendo, to the Carmena Burana-like finale.

The only part that I thought should have been included, was the letter from the US Govt, after the war, offering to exhume Col. Shaw's body and give it a hero's burial. Shaw's parents replied that they could imagine no more hallowed resting place for him than among his brave and loyal soldiers.
