I have heard many times though Charters that some economists expect India to surpass china economically??

I also saw a picture of the freeway they are now building around the entire perimeter of the country, much like our national freeway system.

The yuppies in India are called zippies. And India has a fast growing middle class like China. And thye like lots of cars-lol. I also seem to remember India graduates twice as many engineers as China and 10 times as many as the US.

In any event, India and China should keep metals prices high and maybe drive them higher, in my opinion.

I keep thinking just how much infrastructure both countries need to build to even approach western countries e.g. sewer and water systems; and millions of houses and 10's of millions of cars and appliances.

Yes, there are problems as you describe in India, but I still think it will surpass China as the world's largest economy by 2050. Those very attributes you correctly describe as chaotic are also symptomatic of vibrancy and flexibility.

India already has a larger middle class than China, and Indian emigrants around the world serve as very advantageous outposts in a globalized world.

I don't have the statistics for Canada, where they are probably lower due to the greater proportion of peasants from the Punjab among our immigrants from India, but in the US, immigrants from India have the highest education, income, and health levels of those from any other country, and this continues to their children.

The same is true through most of Europe, as long as you stick to immigrants from India rather than all of South Asia. (In England, the majority of South Asian immigration has been from Bangladesh and Pakistan.)
