I don't understand people who advocate recruiting 18 year olds, training them to kill, giving them weapons, then saying, gee, that was a naughty boy, we should give him the chair. Well, I don't know why parents permit their kids to leave the house, give them a car, don't have a tracking device and video/audio surveillance on them 24/7/52, or bars on their bedroom windows... No wonder so many kids get into trouble.. with parents actually being stupid enough to believe their kids are mature enough to be left unsupervised... I know a number of said problem teenagers who joined the army, and I would sure as hell would not want them living next to me with a gun, let alone if I were considered the "enemy", and they had the backing of Uncle Sam behind them. And did you notify those recruiters, or the Army Personnel command, as to the problems those young recruits exhibited as children? Now who's fault is it?? Hawk

Yet the recruiters happily sign them up. There needs to be much better screening IMO. But then we would need a draft, so not likely to happen. You must not know anyone who has tried to join recently. Back in the Vietnam (and earlier) days, they took young people who messed up with the law, high school dropouts, etc. Standards are much higher now and higher than they've been in the nation's history. I still think video documentation on all helmets should be mandatory. Any soldier returning from patrol who's video looks wacky for some reason gets removed. That's certainly an expression of contempt. It's telling them "we know you're a f***up, so we're gonna be watching you." Maybe you want to make everyone in their 20's carry a video recording their actions. Nowadays young people in the military are usually the best young people we have and the more trustworthy and reliable than others.
