I'd like to take a moment out from current events to say that I think that is a damned shame because those people have no idea just how good and decent a person you really are, what a loyal and genuine friend you quietly, repeatedly, and endearingly without hesitation prove yourself to be. While most people will agree that you are a remarkable character, I believe the truth is that you possess remarkable character and it should be recognized and honored. While many see only a partisan for this or that cause, their mistake is that they don't look closer. Of course, there is no way for most of us to know just how decent, generous and compassionate a man you are in private life because you never discuss that. Over the years here, I've heard enough, however, from those you reached out to assist in one way or another, usually unbidden I might add, that it bears repeating: you possess remarkable character. It is a privilege (if not always a joy when on the receiving end of one of your well-aimed darts) to know you. Now, It is not my intent to nominate you for sainthood here as, if there is anyone up there, he, she or it isn't going to listen to one non-believer nominating another non-believer. But, I was thinking about this today and decided, rather than send you a PM that no one else would see, I'd put it up here for everyone to see. Too much time is spent tearing people down these days, hunting for hidden flaws to knock someone off a pedestal they never asked for. Well, Lazarus Long, you've been around far too long to hide your flaws, yet you remain someone whose presence is worth celebrating, enthusiasm worth emulating, and generosity of spirit worth recognizing. (If we could convert your enthusiasm to energy, we could power a large village, or a small metropolitan area.) And your friendship, Laz? Well, Laz, your friendship, as the MasterCard commercial says: priceless. Three cheers for Lazarus Long! (Anyone who wants to can join in) HURRAH! HURRAH! HURRAH!(And no, I wont' delete this - so don't ask.)
