That's why he was right that PSL would take off, geographic necessity. My question now would be how many people who bought were the workers who needed to live there and how many just speculators, plus the viability and necessity of living there now at post-bubble prices.

I lived in Lake Worth until 1994, and a real, real nice ranch house was about $100,000 back then. And this was east of A1A, only 1 or 2 miles from downtown West Palm Beach. For 300K you were talking Intercoastal waterfront.

Port Saint Lucie was mostly old school Florida Crackers and lots of palmetto and mosquitos west of I-95. Always had good snook and tarpon fishing there near the inlet. I went to Fort Pierce once at that time, and it was like a third world country, no kidding. Like being in Central America.
