...I find it less emotionally wrenching than Glory- although that letter in The Civil War always makes me cry. Ah yes, the letter from Sullivan Ballou to his wife shortly before he was killed. Folks wrote so beautifully back then, with such haunting sentiment. Knowing that the story Glory tells is true, makes it even more emotional to me. That sort of bravery, we can scarcely comprehend. For those farm boys to stand there before that awesome array of weaponry and slug it out for hours...its almost unbelievable.
