hey lefties: did INDIA sent troop to Iraq ?
"The series of blasts in Mumbai and in Kashmir are a shocking and cowardly attempt to spread fear and terror among all citizens," Indian Home Minister Shivraj Patil said in a statement from the prime minister. "I condemn these shameful acts and I reiterate our commitment to fighting terror in all its forms.

"I urge the people to remain calm, not to believe rumors and carry on their activity normally," the statement said.

In Washington, the Bush administration condemned the attacks. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called the terrorist violence "horrific" and expressed sympathy to the victims and their families.

"This shows that this kind of hideous incident can happen anywhere in the world against innocent people," Rice said in a brief media appearance.

"The United States stands with India in the war against terror," she said in a separate written statement. "Those responsible for these terrible acts should be swiftly brought to justice."

India's rail and airports were put on high alert after the blasts. Phone lines to Bombay from the Indian capital were jammed.
