Yeah J. Chris...you get an A in history. Besides Deficits, Reagan also gave us Uncontrolled military spending. Jimmy Carter was the last guy to take the "military industrial complex" to task and try to bring efficiency to defense spending. He thought it was rather inefficient for the Air Force, Navy, and Army to all have different fighter aircraft. He thought that asking the TOP people in aviation to produce the TOP fighter jet would bring efficiency and cost savings. He was right, but the individual congressmen thought it was better to serve their OWN districts and their OWN political futures rather than serve the well being of the country and the program was killed.
