07:48 AMAT Applied Materials: Collective tone of the SEMICON West mgmt meetings was positive - TWP (16.14 )

Thomas Weisel notes that AMAT, KLAC and LRCX each hosted analyst meetings on July 11, at SEMICON West 2006. They say the collective tone of the meetings was positive as presenting mgmt teams each highlighted continued investment into NAND flash capacity and cited internal observations that announced fab ramps appear on track. Notably, management confirmed the firm's long-held view that 2H06 order growth will slow versus 1H06 but remain positive. The firm came away from the meetings incrementally more confident on positive 2H06 order outlook for the semi cap group. AMAT remains their top pick based on favorable industry and product trends.
