Haqi --- I think the fact that he put that phrase in QUOTATION MARKS (...Gore "invented the internet") indicates that he was pointing out the apocryphal nature of the claim....

As far as your follow-on post, where you said that: "...It has been proved over, and over again, that Gore had absolutely nothing to do with the internet. It was the military that did it."

I think it's a well-known fact that Gore was an early leader in Congress consistently pushing for federal funding for the nascent 'Internet' (ARPAnet, etc..., back before the 'Internet' had a name). Securing substantial funding for the development of something is, (I think most people would agree), having 'something to do with it'.... Just ask any West Virginian if their Senator had anything to do with all the federally-financed highways in their State. :-)
