The UN recognized the US as an army of occupation, with all the responsibilities of any nation that has invaded another sovereign nation. We were not invited into Iraq -- we invaded Iraq. In theory we stay in Iraq at the invitation of Iraqis, but in practice our army of occupation is being used to try to deal with the dreadful lawlessness ushered in by our invasion. Iraq teeters on the verge of civil war and anarchy thanks to our illegal invasion.
